3dsound Contest: The Details!

le BUZZ is teaming up with Be, Inc. and our participating sponsors to bring you the "3dsound Contest!" 3dsound is a working demo program packaged with BeOS Release 4.5, which lets you do wonderful things with audio. Using its 16 stereo channels, you can build virtually any audio creation, including:

Music compositions

Radio theatre, complete with music and sound effects

Radio commercials

Fun, wild loops of sound samples

Anything else requiring multiple audio tracks In addition, the program can be used to:

Compress or expand sound, to fit time parameters (that :28.7 sec. ad that needs to be 29.5!) in real time!
Intuitively adjust levels and balance in a clever 3d editing environment
Output to WAV files in the blink of an eye

You'll find 3dsound in the demos folder of your BeOS installation. Climb in there and launch it, experiment around a little, and soon you'll be making your own amazing creations. Then, just submit them to our contest.

You may submit as many as you like, and they may be whatever you'd like them to be (G rated only, please). Regardless of whether they win, your submissions may be showcased on the Audio Buzz program!

If you are not submitting the original files in data format, please include a floppy containing a zoomed-out screenshot of your 3dsound project as proof it was created in 3dsound.

We will be awarding prize bundles in three creativity categories, all of which will contain, at a minimum: Gobe Productive productivity suite, a boxed copy of BeOS R4.5, Be T-shirt. In addition, one of the packages will include a copy of the BeOS Bible by Scot Hacker. We will also be bundling prizes from BeComputing, including a killer speaker system with subwoofer, TV/video card, and headset/boom mic.

Judges for the contest include Dane Scott of le BUZZ, Scot Hacker, and Be Audio Evangelist Jim Rippie.

A contest deadline has not been announced, but the contest will definitely end before the millenium does. So get your entries in soon!
